The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) has issued a stern warning to healthcare organizations against submitting tampered or forged documents in their accreditation and empanelment processes. This move comes in response to increasing reports of unethical practices among some hospitals.

Dr Atul Mohan Kochhar, CEO of NABH, highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, "It has come to our attention, through various sources, that some hospitals have been engaging in activities that are not only unethical but also unlawful. These actions undermine the integrity of the accreditation process and compromise the trust that our stakeholders place in NABH as a quality brand."

In a notice circulated to all healthcare organizations, NABH emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of document tampering, forgery, or falsification. Dr. Kochhar reiterated, "Healthcare organizations are accountable for ensuring the authenticity and accuracy of all documents submitted to NABH by them or on their behalf. Any contravention shall lead to severe consequences including outright rejection of accreditation applications, immediate withdrawal of accreditation, and a minimum five-year ban on re-applying, along with potential legal action."

NABH has also stated its intent to publicly disclose the names of defaulting hospitals on its website. The organization urges all healthcare providers to maintain ethical conduct and adhere strictly to regulatory requirements. "Maintaining transparency and honesty is crucial for upholding the credibility of the accreditation and certification process," Dr Kochhar noted.

In light of these issues, NABH encourages any healthcare organizations aware of certificate or document forgery to report such incidents promptly via email at complaints.redressal@nabh.co. "NABH is committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and integrity in healthcare delivery, ensuring that patient safety and quality of care remain paramount," said Dr. Kochhar.

He concluded with a call to action: "We urge all partner hospitals to reaffirm their commitment to ethical practices and strict adherence to NABH guidelines. Together, let us uphold the principles of integrity and professionalism that define our collective mission in providing exemplary healthcare services."
