The Centre for cGMP at Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), is excited to announce the first-ever ‘International Conference on cGMP – ICONcGMP 2024” and grand celebration of ‘National current Good Manufacturing Practices Day’ or ‘National cGMP Day’, which is scheduled on October 9 and 10, 2024.
On occasion of the NATIONAL cGMP DAY 2024, the Centre for cGMP, MAHE, Manipal, in association with IDMA, Pharmexcil and FOPE, will organise the 1st International Conference on cGMP” on October 9 and observe the NATIONAL cGMP DAY on October 10. ICONcGMP 2024 is the first ever International Conference on cGMP being hosted by a Pharmacy Institute, which will witness the presence of dignitaries & luminaries from industry, academia and regulatory bodies.
There is a huge industry-academia gap with respect to GMP concepts in the academia curriculum and actual industry practice. Therefore, academia has a major role in inculcating a strong GMP foundation in young minds. ICONcGMP 2024 is the right platform to deliberate on the significance of cGMP and quality systems, says Dr Girish Pai, coordinator, Centre for cGMP, MAHE, Manipal.
Centre for cGMP officially unveiled the theme, "THINK cGMP – cGMP IS QUALITY", on the 14th of June 2024.
The president of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Dr Montukumar M Patel, council member, Dr Vibhu Sahani, Office bearers of PCI, National President of FOPE, Harish K Jain, Secretary General of IDMA, Daara B Patel, General Secretary, IDMA & promoter and managing director of Encube Ethical, Mehul Shah, several other industry leaders, PCI council members will attend both the events to be held in Manipal.
There will be six plenary sessions, poster presentations, and interactive industry-academic sessions featuring industry experts. Topics to be covered during the plenary sessions include manufacturing assurance, cGMP & analytical assurance, global regulatory landscape – challenges and strategies for pharma, strategies for handling deviations, quality risk management in excipients manufacturing, and cGMP in management of expired pharmaceutical products.
Dr M D Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor, MAHE, Dr Sharath Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences), MAHE, will be present with Dr Giridhar P Kini, Registrar, MAHE. More than 300 academicians, industry representatives, regulators, consultants, and students from various institutions across the country will be participating in this historic event and will be witnesses to the celebration of the first-ever ICONcGMP 2024 and National cGMP Day.
The highlights of the event include NATIONAL cGMP DAY 2024 award and release of Centre for cGMPs newsletter ‘cGMP CONNECT’. This year’s prestigious NATIONAL cGMP DAY AWARD is presented to S M Mudda, chairman, Regulatory Affairs Committee, IDMA & managing director, Misom Labs, Malta, in recognition of his immense contribution and services to the Pharmaceutical Industry, said Dr Girish Pai.
Centre for cGMP’s major contribution to the pharmaceutical industry includes conception of the ‘National cGMP Day’ on October 10, 2023. Setting up the world’s first-ever digital pharmaceutical museum on pharmaceutical quality, “Manipal cGMP Museum”, dedicated to Dr TMA Pai, founder, MAHE, Manipal. It has also published a book ‘Pharmaceutical Consumer Complaints – A guide to academia and pharmaceutical industry.
The Centre for cGMP invites pharmaceutical professionals from industry and academia to actively participate in this important initiative to promote and uphold the highest quality standards in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
