With an aim to expand its presence in the healthcare sector, Avery Dennison (AD), a global leader in pressure-sensitive label and packaging materials is planning to launch revolutionary labelling products exclusively for the pharma and healthcare sector in India. Company officials informed that in the near future one of the company's main strategies would be to focus on area like speciality medicine due to its high demand.
At present the company is working towards launching its label materials for hanging devices into the Indian market which offers solution for hanging glass bottles containing fluids for intravenous delivery. The uniqueness of this device is that it is a self-adhesive laminate for hanging devices combined with label strength and tear resistance with high shear adhesives which allows the weight of either glass or plastic bottles to be firmly supported. The product is already available in Europe where it was first launched and is soon expected to be launched in India.
According to Rajesh Pantsachiv, market manager, pharmaceutical-Asia Pacific, Avery Dennison, “We are constantly upgrading ourselves to meet the demands of the industry so that we are able to meet all the requirements set up by our clients. In India, pharma is a fast expanding sector with huge demand for growth and we are constantly trying our best to be in the top by providing the best services to our customers. Our commitment towards this field is evident from the activities we have been doing in this area.”
Speaking about the future plans, he informed that company will also be launching freezing blood bag label into the country by third quarter of this year. He added that while the labelling of these blood bags takes place during manufacturing, secondary labels are typically applied after filling and testing. “The launch of this label will be a huge revolutionary event as it will help in addressing one of the main concerns of the hospitals on maintaining the label on the blood bags. At present it is a huge responsibility on the part of the hospitals and medical centres to ensure safe running of the identification and labelling of blood bags label after undergoing a host of demanding technical processes like centrifugal process etc. Our product is unique in the way that it ensures that the labelling on it remain intact even after undergoing these highly sensitive process.”
Over the last one year, the company has already launched two unique products specifically targeted to fulfil the healthcare needs of the country. Last year the company introduced low migratory adhesive products for the pharma sector to provide manufacturers with high mandrel performance, low migration, long-term adhesion and regulatory compliance. Followed by the launch of 23 micron PET release liner, the thinnest PET liner available in the marketplace almost six months back. PET 23 offers practical advantages for label conversion, high-speed dispensing, and liner recycling.
According to Donald A Nolan, president, label and packaging materials, Avery Dennison, “Overall pharma sector is a key target area for us both globally as well as in India especially in the OTC, prescription medicines and a range of other medicament packaging segment. Our company has constantly been in pursuit to meet the opportunities as well as challenges for pharma manufacturers by delivering the best possible self-adhesive labels for both label converters and end users.”
