The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) has invited applications from retired senior central government officials, or officials from corporate or public sector entities to work as non technical consultants under various sections of the department, on contract basis.
The applicants should be retired deputy secretaries, under secretaries and section officers of the Central Government Departments or corporate or PSE personnel.
Applications has been called for three posts - a retired under secretary or section officer with specialised experience in vigilance matters, and two retired deputy secretary, under secretary officers or corporate or PSE personnel with one post to work under the Administration or IT section and the other to work under the establishment section.
The consultant in the vigilance section is expected to handle matters related to drafting of charge sheets, examination of inquiry reports, liaison with Central Vigilance Commission and Union Public Service Commission for statutory advice, monitoring of timely disposal of complaints on PIDPI (Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers) portal, processing of disciplinary proceedings and other related vigilance matters.
The consultant in the administration or IT section will have the responsibilities to handle matters relating to maintenance of IT infrastructure, network administration, digital initiatives and allied functions.
The consultant under the establishment section will have the responsibilities to handle personnel administration, establishment matters, recruitment, service matters, maintenance of service records, leave, pay and other administrative functions.
The consultants would be initially engaged for a period of one year, but the contract can be extended for a period not exceeding five years or till the person attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. Candidates should not be more than 64 years of age on the last date of receipt of the application.
The Department directed that the applications in a format it has advertised with the office memorandum (OM), along with the requisite documents may be submitted to the Under Secretary of Administration division of DoP, within three weeks from the issuance of the OM, dated August 3, 2026.
It may be noted that the DoP has been calling for applications from experienced professionals and experts in various relevant fields to work as technical consultants, along with young professionals, in various posts on contract basis, in order to attain the required skilled manpower to enhance its operations.
