 The Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) has announced a series of Registration Guidance Camps across pharmacy colleges in different districts of Gujarat until September 2026 to facilitate the registration process for pharmacy graduates. This is aimed at strengthening access to professional guidance at the grassroots level.
The weekend camps will enable students who have successfully completed Diploma in Pharmacy, Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and Pharm.D courses from Gujarat to submit applications for new pharmacist registration while also receiving assistance on various registration-related services.
Talking to Pharmabiz about the initiative, Gilbert C. Macwan, additional registrar, GSPC, said “The initiative was launched nearly a decade ago with the objective of making the registration process more accessible for pharmacy students, particularly those residing in remote and rural areas.”
He further said that the camps have significantly benefited students, especially female pharmacy graduates, by providing expert guidance at strategically located centres across the state, reducing the need to travel long distances. He further informed that GSPC has registered more than 1,01,004 pharmacists to date.
The registration guidance camps will be organised at the following institutions Neotech Institute of Pharmacy, Vadodara, APMC College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Sabarkantha, Sardar Patel College of Pharmacy, Anand, Naranjibhai Laljibhai College of Pharmacy, Surat, Smt. B.N.B. Swaminarayan Pharmacy College, Valsad and Vidhyadeep Institute of Pharmacy, Surat.
Apart from accepting applications for fresh pharmacist registration, the camps will provide guidance on creating online accounts, resolving login-related issues, online registration procedures, registration renewal, refresher course enrolment and other digital services offered by the Council.
Students applying for new registration after completing the online application process must carry the fee receipt, Standard XII marksheet, proof of residence, provisional or original degree certificate, first and final year marksheets of diploma or degree pharmacy, and, in the case of diploma pharmacy candidates, the practical training certificate along with the training master's registration certificate. Applicants are also required to bring all original documents that were uploaded during the online application process for verification.
The primary aim of the initiative is to ensure that eligible pharmacy graduates are able to complete the statutory registration process accurately, receive timely professional guidance and enter the pharmacy profession without procedural hurdles. By taking registration services directly to educational institutions across multiple districts, GSPC seeks to improve accessibility, encourage compliance with statutory requirements and strengthen the quality of pharmacy practice in Gujarat.
The GSPC is the statutory body responsible for registering qualified pharmacists and maintaining the State Register of Pharmacists under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. It also implements the provisions of Section 42 of the Pharmacy Act, which mandates that only registered pharmacists are permitted to compound, prepare, mix or dispense medicines on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner, except in circumstances permitted under the law.
In addition, GSPC oversees pharmacy education, promotes ethical professional practice, facilitates continuing professional learning through refresher programmes and works to ensure that pharmacy services across Gujarat are delivered by duly qualified and registered professionals in the interest of public health and patient safety.
