Researchers from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Lovely Professional University (LPU) have developed a novel polyherbal fermented ayurvedic formulation aimed at managing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and allied metabolic conditions such as diabetes and high cholesterol.
The Key highlights of the research include polyherbal fermented ayurvedic formulation developed for PCOS management; focus on addressing associated metabolic concerns including insulin resistance, diabetes, and cholesterol imbalance; developed using traditional “Sandhan” fermentation technology from Ayurveda; Uses medicinal herbs and natural sweeteners with therapeutic properties.
At a time when PCOS cases are increasing rapidly due to sedentary lifestyles, stress, and changing dietary habits, the researchers believe this innovation could potentially emerge as an affordable and lower side-effect alternative for women’s health management in the future.
The formulation was developed by M.Pharmacy alumna Sakshi along with her mentors Dr. Vancha Harish, Dr. Sheetu, and Dr. Saurabh Singh. The research combines traditional ayurvedic fermentation principles (Asava and Arishta) with modern pharmaceutical research approaches.
