The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has initiated efforts to implement Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) for students of all M.Pharm courses in all pharmacy institutions approved by the Council, to integrate with the Pradhan Mantri Scholarship for Pharmacy Postgraduate Studies (PMSPPS) Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) scholarship Scheme.
The Council said that with a view to further strengthen transparency, accountability, and academic monitoring, it has decided to extend the implementation of AEBAS to students enrolled in M. Pharm courses across all approved pharmacy institutions.
"The main purpose for the linking of M. Pharm students with the AEBAS is to bring validation and authenticity in the processing of PMSPPS GPAT scholarships disbursement," said the Council.
"Accordingly, all institutions are hereby directed to initiate the onboarding and registration of all M. Pharm students on the AEBAS portal (https://central.pci.ac.in) through their respective institutional attendance domain," it added.
All institutions must ensure that all their M. Pharm students are registered and start marking attendance through AEBAS by May 31, 2026, instructed the Council.
Non-compliance with the directions may lead to withholding of the GPAT scholarships for the qualified students.
In order to register on the institution’s AEBAS portal, all students must ensure that they have the valid BH-S Number generated from the Digi-Pharmed Profile and have the course selection as M. Pharm.
The registration and attendance process for M. Pharm students shall be carried out in a manner similar to that of faculty members. Faculty members and institutions must assist their students in onboarding on the AEBAS URL of their institutions, it added.
Institutions must request a custom URL for registration of students using institutional portals, and the students must enter their BH-S ID as the candidate ID in the user registration process. The students' name in Digi-Pharmed portal with Aadhar number for successful authentication on the AEBAS portal.
The submission by the students should undergo institutional approval by the nodal officer, following which attendance ID would be generated.
Institutions need to ensure that student data is accurate and aligned with institutional records and Aadhaar details to avoid discrepancies during verification. In view of the increased number of users on the system, institutions may assess their infrastructure requirements and, if required, procure additional AEBAS compatible biometric devices to ensure smooth and uninterrupted attendance marking, it added.
The Council further informed that the Nodal Officer and head of the institutions shall be responsible for ensuring timely onboarding, approval, monitoring of attendance, and overall compliance for both faculty members and students.
All issues and grievances related to AEBAS implementation must be submitted only through the designated grievance portal. No requests through unofficial channels shall be entertained, added the Council.
PCI has recently announced that it has enabled dedicated services on the Digi-Pharmed portal for the institutions to create and update nodal officer credentials for the Pradhan Mantri Scholarship for Pharmacy Post Graduate Studies (PMSPPS), after receiving multiple grievances from institutions.
The Council has last year announced disbursement of PMSPPS for students qualified with GPAT, a National Level Entrance Examination for entry into M. Pharma Programme, for the academic sessions 2025-26.
It announced awards the scholarship of Rs 12,400 per month to GPAT qualified students admitted to PCI-approved post graduate programmes in approved institutions or university departments under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, as per PCI approved intake.
