The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has announced that it has enabled dedicated services on the Digi-Pharmed portal for the institutions to create and update nodal officer credentials for the Pradhan Mantri Scholarship for Pharmacy Post Graduate Studies (PMSPPS), after receiving multiple grievances from institutions.

The Council, in a communication to the institutions running M.Pharm course, said that it has received multiple grievances and queries regarding the creation and updating of Nodal Officer credentials (Maker and Checker) on the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) portal, as well as on the Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) portal.

"In order to streamline the process and ensure authenticated data collection, thereby avoiding any discrepancies or data leakage, I am directed to informed that, the Council has enabled dedicated services on the Digi-Pharmed portal," said Anil Mittal, registrar-cum-secretary, PCI.

Institutions can now apply for the creation or change of Nodal Officer details for the GPAT Scholarship portal (including both Maker and Checker), and a similar service has been made available under the Services section for the creation or change of Nodal Officer details on the AEBAS platform, added the official.

The Council requested all institutions to visit the Digi-Pharmed portal to make the changes and to ensure that the registered email ID and mobile number are under the direct control of the institution to avoid frequent changes or any potential inconvenience in the future.

"Institutions are advised to route all such requests exclusively through the portal going forward. No requests submitted via email will be entertained," added the Council. All grievances from the students are to be routed exclusively through the PCI online grievance portal through their valid student ID.

The Council has last year announced disbursement of PMSPPS for students qualified with GPAT, a National Level Entrance Examination for entry into M. Pharma Programme, for the academic sessions 2025-26.

It awards the scholarship of Rs 12,400 per month to GPAT qualified students admitted to PCI-approved post graduate programmes in approved institutions or university departments under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, as per PCI approved intake

In 2024, it has asked all pharmacy institutions to appoint nodal officers to ensure linking student details on the scholarship portal in order to award the monthly scholarship for eligible GPAT students.

The appointment of nodal officers is to coordinate with the PCI regarding various schemes implemented by the Council to promote and develop the pharmacy profession and to coordinate in order to organise various events as directed by the Council.

For the disbursement of the scholarship, institutions need to confirm the details of all the students admitted to their institutions and eligible for the scholarship as student linking process will be started for the disbursement in future.

During the time, it advised institutions to upload the authorisation documents in the prescribed format attached in a circular released by the Council in its website.

The National Testing Agency conducts the GPAT exam to facilitate institutions to select suitable pharmacy graduates for admission into the Master's programme.

GPAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session. The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions, University departments, Constituent Colleges, and affiliated Colleges. A few scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of Pharmacy are also given on the basis of the GPAT score, according to NAT.
