The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has requested all examining authorities, such as universities and boards, to apply for approval as an examining body of the Council, in line with its recent direction that the authorities shall renew approval after every five years.
It has extended the timeline for registration to March 10, 2026, as against the previous timeline till February 21, 2026.
In order to help the authorities to register and renew the approval through the DIGI-PHARMed portal of PCI, the council has issued a document elaborating the registration and application process.
"It is observed that many of the examining authorities have not yet applied on the PCI portal," said the Council in a circular now.
"In this connection, PCI has decided to extend the last date for submission of application for Examining Authorities (Universities/Boards) up to 10.3.2026. In view of the above, all Examining Authorities (Universities/Boards) are once again requested to apply on the PCI portal," it added.
The Council, in January, this year, was instructed to register on PCI Portal as Examining Body u/s 12(2) of the Pharmacy Act,1948 for approval by all the Examining Authorities (Universities/Boards), on an immediate basis through the PCI's portal.
The applicants can raise the grievance regarding any technical issue through the portal, and any communication regarding technical glitches/query sent by mail or hard copy to Council will not be considered for future reference for any legal case/issue, it added.
PCI has fixed the registration fees for the examining authorities as Rs. 10,000 along with Goods and Services Tax (GST), and an application regulatory fees of Rs. 1,00,000 along with GST for the tenure of five years.
The Examining Authority Portal of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is designed to facilitate online registration and management of the examining boards or universities that grants consent to pharmacy institutions for conducting examinations of the various pharmacy courses as per the regulations of Pharmacy Council of India.
The portal enables examining authorities to submit their organisation details, examination processes at the Institution level and University Level examinations being conducted, list of institutions allowed by the university or boards for the various courses, examination schedules, and reporting etc.
The Universities and Boards should access the DIGI-PHARMed portal and register themselves as an examining authority by providing various details, following which they can login and submit an application for renewal. By logging in, the Universities and Boards can access a dashboard where they will get a consolidated, real-time overview of key metrics, alerts, application status, and actionable insights through visual summaries and indicators.
They can select the courses approved by the Examining Authority for which consent may be granted to affiliated institutes, with multiple courses enabled for selection. It warns that only PCI-recognized courses should be selected, as these selections will be used during scrutiny and downstream validations while adding the list of institutions and courses for which consent has been provided.
After successful completion of the Application Form, the Examining Authority must declare the institutes affiliated with it for the relevant academic session. They can add the details of the affiliated institute, by providing the required details.
The portal also requires the authorities to provide the documentation process for examination, details of conduction of examination, assessment of answer books, details of functioning of special committees related to examination malpractices and grievances, among others. There is also a section to assess compliance with PCI norms related to result processing, declaration, and post-result activities, and another section which verifies compliance related to training completion and issuance of diploma or degree certificates.
