 The Karnataka Pharma Retailers & Distributors Organisation (KPRDO) has acknowledged Emcure Pharma’s positive response on the exclusive stockist appointment for special category sales.
This came about after KPRDO expressed serious concern over Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ move to appoint Novacare as an exclusive stockist for special category sales within the state. The Pune-based Emcure comprehended the apprehensions of KPRDO and conceded to their request and responded favourably benefiting the pharmacy traders.
In a reply to C Jayaram, president, KPRDO, Jatin Nayyar, Sr, director, Distribution & Commercial, Emcure Pharmaceuticals clarified stating that appointment of Emcutix which is a subsidiary of the company was only for only for dealing with cosmetic and dermatology products.
To this end, we have noted the concern of KPRDO and is aware of the importance of trade partners, stockists and retailers play a very pivot role in making medicines available for the patients, he stated.
Therefore, we now are explicitly stating, “We have no intentions to ignore our business partners and wholesalers and retailer fraternity. We are ready to operate through other stockists too and have no intentions to give monopoly to any single stockiest in Karnataka for special rate business and supply to doctors and pharmacists,” stated the communication note from Emcure.
However, as we are offering schemes and discounts for the benefit of the patients, we expect the stockist should be ready to share all the relevant data with the Emcutix team. The pharmacy outlets also need to be prepared for audits done by Emcutix and Emcure. In case the stockists are ready, we would be ready to partner with them for special rate supplies, he said.
It may be recalled that KPRDO had been constantly communicating with Emcure on this issue as appointment of Novacare was viewed as a detrimental decision, that could cause severe damage to the harmonious business atmosphere between the company & the trade, said Jayram.
