As a new initiative to encourage pharma marketers in the state, the Tamil Nadu IDMA (Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association) will introduce 'Brand Awards' to pharmaceutical marketing companies to recognize excellence in pharmaceutical marketing.
These prestigious awards will honour companies whose brands have demonstrated exceptional performance in the market, according to J Jayaseelan, chairman of the TN IDMA.
As a first step, the Brand Awards will be presented during the opening session of 'Pharmac South 2025,' a prominent pharmaceutical exhibition, scheduled to commence on July 4 in Chennai Trade Centre. The office-bearers of the IDMA hope that this new recognition will highlight and celebrate the strategic marketing efforts that play in the success of the pharma companies. Besides, this will inspire other companies in the industry to promote their marketing practices.
He said, "In a bid to ensure a truly neutral and data-driven selection process for the first brand awards, we have engaged Pronto Consult, a reputable Mumbai-based market research firm, for conducting the comprehensive assessment of companies' promotional strategies and their brands' performance in the market. Their independent analysis will be instrumental in identifying the deserving pharmaceutical companies for the brand awards".
To underscore the significance of this new recognition, the 'Brand Awards' will be presented right at the outset of 'Pharmac South.' As soon as the inaugural function is over on the first day, the winning companies will be honoured, kicking off the day's proceedings with a celebration of marketing excellence.
Dr. Hari Natarajan, managing director of Pronto Consult, talking about the selection process, said seven companies from Chennai have been chosen to receive this year's inaugural Brand Awards. He emphasized that the selection parameters were not based on company turnover but rather on market insight. The assessment drew heavily on comprehensive feedback gathered from a diverse range of stakeholders, including doctors, patients, retailers, stockists, and pharmacists. This multi-faceted approach ensures a holistic understanding of brand performance and market perception. He also noted that some companies are set to receive more than one award, a testament to their strong performance across various brand categories or product lines.
Following the award presentations, the IDMA members can look forward to an insightful talk on brand building by Dr. Krishna Atul Shah, director of Pronto Consult. This session promises to offer valuable perspectives on effective brand strategies. The post-lunch session will then shift focus to the financial landscape of the industry, with a discussion on 'Fundraising Challenges and Opportunities for Pharma MSMEs'. This interactive segment will feature speakers selected from the audience, ensuring a diverse range of viewpoints and practical insights.
The second day of 'Pharmac South' will commence at 10 am with a presentation by Dr. Tom Puthupparampil, Country Head of Syner-G Biopharma Group, who will address the vital topic of 'Development of Sustainable Quality Culture in the Pharmaceutical Industry'. The pre-lunch session 2, starting at 11:30 am, will feature Rahul Guha, CEO of Thyrocare, who will share his expertise on the subject, 'Leading Transformations - A Journey Towards Excellence'. Following it, a valedictory function will be held at 4 pm.
