A comprehensive clinical Ayurveda app developed by a group of young Ayurveda doctors from Kerala attracted the attention of visitors at the ‘Arogya Expo’ held as part of the World Ayurveda Congress that was held in Dehradun in Uttarakhand last week. The app named, ‘Bhishak’, featured a detailed description of diseases, medicines, lab investigations, procedures, prescription and patents. Developed by Dr Sandeep, Dr Rakesh and Dr Utham Shah from Shornur in Palakkad district in Kerala, the app is an authentic reference platform for Ayurveda practitioners, teachers and students as well. Dr Shah said around 300-plus diseases are explained in the app, besides their etiology, clinical features, diagnosis and ayurvedic treatment under 10 departments. “More than 550 Ayurveda medicines have been included in the app with information on ingredients, indications, dosage, reference and expert opinion on clinical utility. It has the biggest database on all Panchakarma and Keraleeya special procedures with condition-wise medicines,” he said. The app, which was launched during the Covid-19, gives extensive information on treatment of complications, 60-plus Sweda Yogas, Netra Kriyakramas, Snehana, Swedana, Vamana and Virechana, etc. It also offers the facility for users to create their own prescriptions and increase online and offline consultations. There is also a wide range of proprietary ayurvedic formulations in the app crafted to address specific health concerns. With its focal theme ‘Digital Health, An Ayurveda Perspective’, The World Ayurveda Congress had set the stage for in-depth deliberations on leveraging new technologies to more effectively deliver solutions and reconfigure R&D projects relating to Ayurveda. The largest international conclave of ayurvedic practitioners, researchers, administrators, diplomats, teachers and students, the biennial event was organised by the World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF), an initiative of Vijnana Bharati, Uttarakhand government and Ayush Ministry, Government of India. More than 5,500 participants participated in the event, which included 350 overseas delegates from 54 countries.
