The 14th Annual General Body Meeting and annual conference of the Trichy based Consortium of Indian Pharmaceutical Marketers and Manufacturers Associations (CIPMMA) will be held at Yercaud in Tamil Nadu on August 16 and 17.
This is the second AGM of the pharma marketers body after its split in 2018.
Sources from CIPMMA informed that the 14th AGM would be held from 2 PM to 6 PM on Friday, August 16. New office-bearers will be elected in the general body meeting. It is learnt that a leading marketer from Chennai is likely to be elected president of the association. CIPMMA is an organization of pharmaceutical marketers and manufacturers with district units across the state.
According to Karunai Kadal, the founder chairman of the association, this year AGM expects about 500 members as 400 registrations have already done. The number of association members is 570.
He said, along with discussions, seminars and debates in the two days programmes, the association will hold one motivational business session for its members and for those aspiring pharma marketers.
On the second day, the annual conference will be inaugurated by J Jayaseelan, chairman of the Tamil Nadu chapter of the IDMA. Present chairman of the CIPMMA, P. Arun Prasad, president J Venkita Sundaram and secretary R. Ramesh will attend the function along with other dignitaries.
Karunai Kadal said there will be deliberations on crucial issues faced by the pharma marketers due to various policy decisions by the government. Several recent guidelines issued by the health ministry, fertilizers ministry etc will be discussed in the meeting. Good Packing Rules (GPR), declaration by marketing companies etc are some of the subjects selected for discussions in the seminar.
"Government is issuing various orders occasionally in terms of marketing, labeling, packing, trade margins etc. This often badly affects the business prospects of the marketing people. The general body of CIPMMA will pass a resolution and forward the same to the government. Organizational matters will be discussed on the first day. We have invited members of the TN CDA from local area to the seminars," Kadal said.
A senior member of the consortium said he will bring a resolution in the AGM demanding inclusion of the breakaway group of marketers led by A Kannan further to CIPMMA. Although Kannan had floated a separate association, it could not mobilise support of marketing people except a few from Chennai.
