In a decisive action against illegal manufacturing practices, the Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) raided a factory in Surat's Olpad area producing ayurvedic products without a license. The raid resulted in the seizure of goods worth Rs. 11.60 lakhs, according to FDA Commissioner Dr H G Koshia.

During the raid, FDCA officials discovered 15 samples of suspicious quantities, which were subsequently seized. The factory, operated by Jogi Herbal Pvt. Ltd., was found to be manufacturing various ayurvedic medicines, including Kavath, Churna, and joint relief oil, without the necessary permits and licenses. The factory was immediately sealed, and production was halted.

Commissioner Dr H G Koshia provided further details, stating, "The raid revealed that the factory was producing and selling ayurvedic products illegally. We seized raw materials worth Rs. 2 lakh, packing materials worth Rs. 70 thousand, finished products worth Rs. 2.90 lakh, and machinery valued at Rs. 6 lakh, totaling goods worth Rs. 11.60 lakh."

The directors of Jogi Herbal Pvt. Ltd., Nileshbhai Jogal and Dr Devangi Jogal, are now facing legal action. The FDCA team collected five samples of suspected ayurvedic medicine and ten samples of raw material, which have been sent to the Government Laboratory in Vadodara for further analysis. "Once we receive the lab reports, appropriate legal actions will be taken," Dr. Koshia added.

This raid is part of the FDA's ongoing efforts to crack down on the illegal manufacturing of allopathic, ayurvedic, and cosmetic medicines. Recently, FDA officials uncovered a factory in Gandhinagar producing counterfeit allopathic medicines without a license and acted against Shree Healthcare in Surat, which was selling allopathic medicines disguised as cosmetics online through Amazon. Additionally, similar raids were conducted in Bhavnagar, targeting firms producing unlicensed cosmetic products for online sale.
