Poly Scientific Ayurveda (PSA) chief Dr Ravishankar Polisetty has indicated his ambitious plans following his appointment as a representative for the Association of National Green and Climate Councils (ANGCC) a global organisation dedicated to building healthy cities worldwide. As the Telangana government accelerates its plans to develop more Smart Cities in the state, Dr. Polisetty said that a Health City project for Hyderabad, which will facilitate advanced innovation in healthcare and medical science. Dr Polisetty, a prominent cardiac surgeon turned translational ayurvedic researcher who has pioneered PSA, combining Ayurveda and biotechnology. The appointment to ANGCC is to create a sustainable urban ecosystems that emphasise holistic wellness strategies beyond merely treating diseases. “Smart Cities can benefit from data-driven, holistic healthcare as it can gather crucial information and offer comprehensive solutions by synergising traditional systems like Ayurveda with modern medicine. This integration can help us to go beyond symptomatic treatments and devise strategies to prevent health issues before they arise,” said Dr Polisetty. “The idea originated from the need to focus on holistic care. Whether we are adopting natural remedies or modern approaches, we must ensure that every aspect of health is properly addressed. There may be contaminants in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we consume. For instance, there have been news reports about spices with over 570 different contaminants and bans imposed on some brands by the European Union, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Shockingly, 50 of these contaminants are carcinogenic. Developing a comprehensive health ecosystem like Health Smart City, where various stakeholders can collaborate, will provide intelligent oversight addressing all health-contributing factors, preventive measures and remedies, thereby bringing meaningful change in the public health system,” he said. “Health Smart City can leverage advanced medical technologies, data analytics, AI-driven diagnostics, telemedicine, and remote patient monitoring to enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, optimise resource allocation and respond more effectively to healthcare challenges and emergencies. This approach will ensure a holistic approach to urban healthcare, making cities not only smarter but also healthier and more responsive to the needs of their residents,” said Dr. Polisetty. Initially a manufacturing facility will be set up to provide modern equipment for Poly Scientific Ayurvedic care, and the development of the Health Smart City will be carried out in a phased manner. A holistic Cancer Centre will be the ‘heart’ of the future Smart Medical City, consisting of an ion and proton therapy unit, an academy, a rehabilitation clinic, an innovative hospital, and a hotel. Infrastructural units are also part of the project. There are plans to have health cities across India, mainly in 34 metros and tier-2 metros,” he said.
