The 9th edition of the Pharmac South 2024, to be held at the Chennai Trade Centre at Guindy from May 24 to 25, will be the largest trade show of pharmaceuticals and pharma technologies compared to the previous shows with key brands from Maharashtra, Gujarat and North India. Apart from South India, this year 80 percent of the exhibitors are from North India including Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. So far, 200 exhibitors have signed up for the show which anticipates attracting over 220 companies, said Rupen Vikamsey, managing director of Orbit Exhibitions Pvt Ltd in Mumbai which organizes the event in association with TN IDMA. “This year’s Pharmac South will be a comprehensive show of pharmaceutical products, machineries, raw materials, technologies, lab equipment etc, and we hope that the trade fair will attract more than 5,000 visitors from across the country. The event will open new opportunities for the south Indian pharma industries and contract manufacturers to have face to face interactions and business meetings with north Indian business people. The major exhibitors this year are from the western and northern parts of the country. In addition to this, some IT companies are also joining this time,” Rupen told Pharmabiz. Talking about the organizing part in Chennai, the chairman of the Tamil Nadu IDMA, J Jayaseelan said the event will be inaugurated by the additional chief secretary (health) of the state government, Dr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi. Two seminars, two panel discussions and one motivational speech will be held as part of the trade fair. He said the organizing committee is getting very good responses and encouragement from exhibitors and pharma marketers from all over south India in spite of the programme being organized in the summer season. According to Varsha Surve, coordinator of the programme, there will be representation of API industries from Telangana, Maharashtra and Gujarat, and presence of ayurvedic and herbal industries in the two-day exhibition. The latest varieties of cosmetics and fragrances will be showcased in separate stalls. In total, this year’s Pharmac South will be a show of pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, Ayurveda, herbal and pharma technologies, she said. On the first day, after the inaugural speech, a seminar on Scope of Pharma Industry in south India will be held in the conference hall, and the post-lunch session will be dedicated for the motivational speech. The second day will start with a speech by the director of the Kolkata NIPER, on the subject ‘NIPER and Pharma Industry Collaboration’. The afternoon session will cover a talk by the vice-chancellor of the Flame University in Pune, Prof. Dishan Kamdar, and the subject is ‘Art of Persuasion – A Master Class on Negotiation and Influence.
