The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has urged member companies to supply pharma ingredients related for medicines related to muscle spasms, gastrointestinal infections and respiratory infections like oxybutynin hydrochloride, nifuroxazide and ambroxol hydrochloride respectively with the specified annual quantity to Brazilian companies.
For oxybutynin hydrochloride, the quantity is 120 kg, for nifuroxazide, it is 240 kg and for ambroxol hydrochloride, it is 50 kg.
Pharmexcil is in receipt of communication from the India Brazil Chamber of Commerce (IBCC), a private non-profit organization that has been working to promote trade and cultural relations between India and Brazil since 2003. IBCC's main goal is to assist Indian and Brazilian companies in developing business and fulfilling their objectives in the respective target markets.
“At present, the company does not have a Certificate of Analysis (COA)/specifications, as the materials are in the development/qualification phase. Member companies have been suggested to refer to the respective pharmacopoeial monographs with the specifications of the required tests,” according to the Pharmexcil circular.
“Member companies interested in supplying these ingredients and quotations for the mentioned products are requested to respond to the request at the earliest. All quotations must be sent directly to IBCC (ibcc@indiabrazilchamber.org),” the circular further stated.
A COA is a document that communicates the results of a scientific test done on a product such as food or drugs. The COA also lists the chemicals used in the product’s manufacturing and testing and are created to ensure all important regulations are met and complied with.
It summarizes all the tests performed on a product and gives the needed reassurance to the customers. It is therefore an essential document for most companies in the chemical and food sector.
Oxybutynin reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. Oxybutynin is used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder, such as frequent or urgent urination, incontinence (urine leakage) and increased night-time urination. Nifuroxazide is an antibiotic indicated in the treatment of susceptible gastrointestinal infections. Ambroxol is considered a mucoactive agent and has been widely used to treat acute and chronic respiratory diseases.
