In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening India’s export ecosystem and enhancing the global competitiveness of domestic industries, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), in association with Intertek India and with the support of Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), will organise an “Outreach Session on Global Market Access & Regulatory Compliance” on May 21, 2026, at FIEO’s Niryat Bhawan in New Delhi.
Discussions are expected to focus on how pharma exporters can proactively adapt to changing regulatory demands, minimise trade barriers, and improve acceptance of Indian products in international markets through robust quality assurance and compliance mechanisms.
Pharma exporters are now required to demonstrate conformity with multiple international standards and technical regulations before gaining entry into overseas markets, particularly in developed economies.
According to industry experts, the session bears a lot of relevance as international trade is increasingly being shaped by stringent quality standards, certification requirements, conformity assessment mechanisms, and evolving regulatory frameworks across major global markets. The programme is expected to serve as an important platform for pharma exporters, manufacturers, regulatory experts, certification agencies, and policymakers to deliberate on the emerging compliance landscape and help Indian businesses align with international expectations to sustain and expand their export presence.
The outreach session assumes considerable importance for the pharmaceutical sector, where adherence to global standards has become a prerequisite for market access. With countries tightening import regulations and placing greater emphasis on product quality, traceability, sustainability, and safety benchmarks, Indian exporters are increasingly required to navigate complex compliance structures in overseas markets.
The session aims to sensitise industry stakeholders about these developments while providing practical guidance on certification procedures, conformity assessment requirements, product verification systems, and compliance pathways necessary for seamless international trade operations.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Quality Council of India (QCI), Export Inspection Council, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) are expected to participate in the deliberations, underlining the collaborative approach being adopted to address regulatory and market access challenges faced by exporters.
The session will also witness participation from senior leadership of Intertek India, including Jeremy Gaspard and Yati Shrivastava, along with other domain experts who will deliberate on global market access requirements and the evolving role of certification and testing frameworks in international commerce.
Industry observers believe that such outreach programmes are becoming increasingly essential as global supply chains undergo transformation amid heightened scrutiny over product safety, environmental sustainability, and technical compliance.
“The initiative also highlights the importance of coordinated engagement between government agencies, export promotion bodies, testing and certification organisations, and industry participants in building a resilient export ecosystem. Institutions such as BIS, QCI, FSSAI, and the Export Inspection Council continue to play a critical role in strengthening India’s quality infrastructure, while organisations like FIEO and Pharmexcil act as key facilitators in connecting exporters with policy developments, compliance updates, and international market opportunities,” according to an official associated with the development.
