The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited applications for “ICMR Centenary-Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF)” to foster high quality research opportunities to promising fresh PhD/MD/MS holders in basic science, communicable, non communicable diseases and reproductive health including nutrition at ICMR Institutes and Centers.
The applications have been invited from the fresh Ph.D./MD/MS degree holders within three years of completing their Ph.D./MD/MS degree (awarded) as on the last date of the application and also those who have received their provisional Ph.D./MD/MS degree. Maximum age limit is 32 years, relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH and women candidates, as on the last date of application (June 30, 2023 and December 31, 2023).
Special focus will be on fundamental research in areas of science and other priority areas identified by ICMR from time to time. ICMR intends to offer 50 such fellowships every year for working in ICMR Institutes/Centers with state-of-art R&D facilities. These fellowships will be allocated by the Director General, ICMR, depending upon the needs of the ICMR Institute/Centre.
The applications may be submitted in the format provided with all enclosures as listed in the detailed guideline and as per the eligibility criteria (only hard copy) with effect from February 1, 2023 to February 28, 2023 (by 05:30pm) to Kishor Toppo, TO-C at Room No. 423, 3rd floor, ICMR Headquarters, New Delhi. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered further. ICMR, with its 27 state-of-the-art Institutes/Centers, is amongst the foremost research organizations in the field of Bio Medical Sciences. Over the years, the ICMR has helped in making a scientific milieu in India, creating and nurturing talent in many disciplines such as communicable and non communicable diseases, basic medical sciences, reproductive health including nutrition and human resource developments among others.
Fresh PhDs/MD/MS within three years of completing their PhD/MD/MS degree (awarded) as on the last date of the application and also those who have received their provisional PhD/MD/MS degree can apply. Degree copy must be submitted as on the last date of application form.
For deserving candidates age can be relaxed maximum up to maximum of 3 years based on earlier work done, publications, awards etc. along with the request by sponsoring Director/Director-in-Charge. Director General, ICMR may consider and relax on the recommendation of the screening committee.
ICMR PDFs will be paid a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 65,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per Government of India rule, Non Practicing allowance (NPA) as admissible and a contingency grant of Rs 3 lakhs per annum of which 25% of the contingency grant can be used for travel including per diem expenses (only for National travel, related to ICMR-PDF proposed research work only).
Selection of the “ICMR Centenary Post Doctoral Fellows” will be made through interview of short listed candidates by a specially constituted Selection Committee by DG, ICMR based on their publications, citations and its impact factor.
The place of interview will be ICMR Headquarters, New Delhi. Eligible candidates must route their applications through the sponsoring ICMR Institutes/ Centers. Applicants coming from abroad may also be considered in absentia, if eligible and found suitable by the Committee.
