Laying the basis for a generation of students with an improved lifelong resilience to disease, Embassy has been championing preventative health awareness in government schools since 2016. With its partner, Cerner, Embassy has provided free health check-ups and maintained records for more than 4,000 students in 14 Embassy-adopted government schools. It was soon discovered that, with attendance levels in schools dropping and recurring conditions being noted each year, there was a general lack of understanding of preventative measures to combat common health programs. To combat this, Embassy established a 7-step holistic health & hygiene programme that provides the full gamut of support from preventative – awareness, daily maintenance, and clean drinking water to detective – comprehensive health screenings and medical interventions.
In the last year, Embassy and their corporate partners distributed 42,260 health kits across 46 schools in the cities of Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Noida and Pune, benefitting 25,889 students. Sanitary napkins were also distributed to 9,181 students. Each kit safeguards against the Covid-19 virus, as well as bolsters each student’s general hygiene. The kit contains handwash, bath soaps, washing soap, reusable cloth masks, shampoo, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a tongue cleaner, a nail cutter, and a comb. To safeguard against incidents of malnutrition amongst underprivileged students in their adopted Government Schools, Embassy has been distributing nutritional chikki bars to students during the week. In March FY21-22, they hit the milestone of 1,54,300 bars distributed to around 5,500 students across Bengaluru.
Embassy kickstarted their health screenings for government school students, by providing 6,028 students across 21 government schools in Bengaluru with check-ups for dental, ENT and general health.
In addition, with the aim of creating campuses conducive to learning, the Group already maintains 19 government schools on a daily basis. Throughout the pandemic, Embassy continued to provide maintenance to their government schools on a weekly basis. In preparation of schools opening, they conducted deep cleaning and sanitization including of the water and sump tanks. To further equip schools with safe, well maintained and hygienic infrastructure for students to return to, the Group conducted extensive repairs and renovations for all of their government schools in Bengaluru through the multiple lockdowns.
Supplementing the government’s initiatives to safeguard students and teachers from the virus, Embassy has furnished their adopted government schools with sanitizer foot stands and enough sanitizer for daily usage. Embassy, along with its corporate partner, Cognizant collaborated to provide 3,261 schools across four districts in Karnataka – Bangalore North, Bengaluru South, Ramanagaram and Mysore – with temperature monitors.
Having previously cooperated in different capacities with the Karnataka Department of Education, Embassy and corporate partners, Software AG, Swiss Re Global and AXA XL, stepped up earlier this year to provide face shields for 59,887 teachers, and temperature monitors for 6,132 government high and primary schools in the state.
Through the Covid-19 lockdown, Embassy has launched various initiatives with a focus on extending support to the police, government school students, healthcare workers and the healthcare system across the country. Previously, Embassy and a consortium of their corporate occupiers had partnered to donate protective equipment including sanitizers to the around 9 lakh students and supervisors in Karnataka for each day of the Karnataka State Board Secondary School examinations in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
