Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai observed World Bio-Ethics Day today

As part of the Professional Development Program, abbreviated as PRODEV,  practiced by the Chennai based Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), the Bio Ethics Cell at the University has observed the World Bio-Ethics Day today.
 
Various programs involving students of all the constituent colleges have been conducted at the university. Sources from SRU said programs including debates, discussions and case presentations will be held till 8 PM today.
 
According to University sources, PRODEV is a problem based approach that provides a complete package of knowledge, aptitude and communication skills, besides bio ethics and empathy towards patients. SRU gives highest importance to bio-ethics in medical education curriculum, healthcare practices and research.
 
By participating in the program, students understand ticklish problems and learn the best way to handle them, said Dr.P.V.Vijayaraghavan, Vice Chancellor of the university.
 
Dr.Mary Mathew, Professor at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and regional coordinator of UNESCO Chair in India, has inaugurated the function organized as part of the program. She said this year the students have been given the opportunity to take the initiative in organizing various events.
 
Dr.A.Ravi Kumar, Dean, Education, Dr.S.Anandan, Dean, Medical College and Dr.Usha Viswanath,  Secretary, Bio Ethics Cell at the  University were among those who participated in the event.
