AVPS Chakravarthi emerges as first Asian to be honoured as Global Ambassador for WPO

AVPS Chakravarthi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of Ecobliss India, has recently achieved a unique distinction of being the first Asian from India to be appointed as Global Ambassador for World Packaging Organization.

While revealing this, AVPS Chakravarthi informed Pharmabiz that during the 49th board meeting of World Packaging Organization held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil last week, he has been honoured as the Ambassador for the world’s leading packaging organization. “It feels pride to have been appointed as an official member of the world leading body. As a professional from the packing industry in India, I feel this is a great honour to represent WPO as its ambassador,” said AVPS Chakravarthi.

Chakravarthi who heads Hyderabad based Ecobliss India, has been in the forefront in providing innovative and best of the packaging solutions for the medicinal and related products. He has served the industry with best of his solutions in print, paper and packaging solutions for more than 3 decades.

The WPO is the apex body in the field of packaging. Founded September 6, 1968 in Tokyo by visionary leaders from the global packaging community, the purposes of the organisation is to encourage the development of packaging technology, science, access and engineering;

The WPO is also aimed at contributing to the development of international trade; and Stimulate education and training in packaging. In fact the WPO is moving with a vision for achieving better quality of life through better packaging for more people across the globe. “Having been honoured as an Ambassador of WPO my responsibility would to full fill the commitments of the organization by educating people about the value that packaging adds to society, not only for food but for beverages, pharmaceuticals, and virtually every product used by consumers and industry alike,” says Chakravarthi.

Chakravarthi is also achieved a world record by winning   ‘Worldstar’, the highest packaging excellence award for five consecutive years in a row with 100 per cent success. Earlier he has also served as Chairman of IIP, Hyderabad and has been on the board of Indian Institute of Packaging over a decade. He is actively associated with Packaging activities, worldwide for a long time and has been on management committees of various national and international organisations.

Chakravarthi says, “There is no culture on earth that can do without packaging and it feels pained when people view packaging as a problem and an unavoidable burden.  In fact, in today’s world not a single thing moves without packaging. Therefore it is high time the governments understand and recognise packaging as a major industry segment like steel and cement etc and take encouraging and supportive measures to help the entrepreneurs in packaging industry to bring in more effective and affordable solutions in packaging.”
