Dr. Alexander Thomas took over as President of Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) from Dr. Prem Nair, outgoing President, AHPI. The announcement came in at the AHPI 4th Global Conclave – 2017 held in February at Chennai.
The two-day conclave aimed at preparing the healthcare professionals to shoulder the responsibility of newer models of future healthcare keeping in mind the integrated care approach. Around 582 participants from over 15 States spread across from Delhi to Kanyakumari and from West Bengal to Gujarat were present. The participants represented different setups such as private hospitals, government hospitals, mission/trust hospitals, universities, healthcare related institutions, manufacturers, management institutions and voluntary organizations. Amongst the participants were 103 doctors, 80 from nursing community, 57 from student community and 212 representing administrators, hospital support staff etc.
The technical sessions had 130 speakers, moderators, chairpersons and lead presenters of national and international repute. The sessions were well attended and the discussions that followed were educative Several awards were presented to the participating hospitals, institutions and organisations. key note address was delivered by Dr. Devi Shetty, chairman, Narayana Health. Among the speakers were, Principal Secretary of Health, Government of Tamil Nadu and Member, IRDA etc., said the organisers.
